"Diversity and Adaptations" is the theme of this gallery. Here you find animals
that protect themselves through deception, venom and armor. You will discover remarkable
behaviors and adaptations that enable marine organisms to gain an edge on competitors, predators or prey.
Can you imagine a fish that acts like a leaf and sneaks up on its prey? How about an animal that is completely encased in armor? Or a fish that can switch gender!
This gallery is also home to the Biodiversity Special exhibit, which currently houses weedy seadragons. Special permits allow for the collection of egg-carrying males only, these eggs are allowed to hatch in captivity and the male is then released. The juveniles are then reared in an aquaculture facility and made available to the worldwide public aquarium community to help promote conservation of the species.
