Information for Visitors

What can I see?
Waikiki Aquarium visitors can see an amazing variety of marine life from the tropical Pacific and Hawaii. Home to over 2,500 animals representing more than 420 species, the Aquarium is especially proud of its reputation of excellence in coral reef exhibitry. When you come to the Aquarium, you can get up-close views of reef sharks, living corals, endangered Hawaiian monk seals, graceful sea jellies, myriads of colorful reef fish, and much, much more.


How Much? How do I get there?
The Waikiki Aquarium is located in Queen Kapiolani Park, on the southern shoreline of the island of Oahu, State of Hawaii. Situated at 2777 Kalakaua Ave. on the Diamond Head (east) end of Waikiki Beach, the Waikiki Aquarium is within easy walking distance of most Waikiki hotels. If you are unable to drive or walk to the Aquarium, you can catch the No. 2 City Bus (TheBus) and get off at the Aquarium, or you may take the Waikiki Trolley and exit at the Waikiki Aquarium stop. Generally, TheBus and the Waikiki Trolley stop every 15 minutes.

Admission desk open daily 9:00 am to 4:30 pm; last guests exit at 5 pm. Closed Christmas Day; special hours on Thanksgiving and New Year's days. Admission rates are $9 for visitors; $6 for local residents, active duty military with ID, students with ID and senior citizens; $4 for Youths (13-17), and persons with disabilities; $2 for Juniors (5-12). Children 4 and under are free. Each paid admission includes an Audio Tour Wand. Check the Hawaii Attractions Association Map Guide or the Oahu Drive Guide for special discount coupons.


Do you have other activities?
The Aquarium offers a wide a variety of fun and educational activities for families and adults. Our Education Department offers day and night reef walks, Pacific diving/snorkeling trips and overnight Aquarium adventures featuring sharks, sea jellies and a special evening with the Director. Call the Aquarium’s Education Department at (808) 923-9741 Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm HST (GMT -10:00) for information.
